Container against truck

A truck makes sense when the work is finished, when the debris is inside or up stairs, when it is heavy, and when you want it gone in a single visit without a container sitting outside for a week. Contractors often use both across the same project.

What cannot ride along

Asbestos in any form, which is licensed abatement work. Paint, solvents, adhesives and sealants, which are hazardous waste. Wet or contaminated wallboard, which stops being clean gypsum and goes elsewhere. And treated lumber, which is fine to haul but travels as construction debris rather than as clean wood. Say what is in the pile and nothing gets refused at the gate.
